How to Get Married Without Getting into Debt
Press Dispensary
- May 06, 2008
As the credit crunch continues, thoughts of summer nuptials this year could well be on the wane - if it weren’t for the ingenuity of Youbuymywedding.com (http://www.youbuymywedding.com) which helps happy couples to beat the banks by getting their guests to share the costs of the big day and avoid starting married life in debt.

With Gumtree.com claiming that more than one-third of engaged couples in the UK (35%) are having to scrimp in order to afford marriage costs, while ten per cent are putting off wedding plans altogether, sharing the costs could be the ideal way to beat the budget blues. Read the full story

Get your guests to pay for your wedding
www.aisledash.com  Dec 10th 2007
Just when I thought I'd seen it all, along comes yet another concept that almost takes my breath away. The sheer cheek of it, was my first thought. How daring! How vulgar!  What am I rabbiting on about?
Getting your guests to pay for your wedding. Yep. Sounds mad, doesn't it?  I looked into it, though, (because heavens above, if one can get other people to pay for the day, why not?) and actually, it's not a bad idea. Why take out a loan and run up huge debts, just for one day in your life?  Read the full story

DON'T GO IN RED TO WED - Our top tips for a financially stress-free big day
Melanie Wright 06/05/2007 Sunday Mirror
THE wedding season will soon be in full swing - but for many couples tying the knot will cost so much that they might as well change the vows to "till debt do us part".
GET GUESTS TO HELP OUT
THIS week saw the launch of a new website called www.youbuymywedding.com, which replaces the traditional gift list with an online invitation to guests to share the costs of the big day.
Couples pay a registration fee of £49.95. They then get a reference number which they can include on their invitations. The number enables guests to log on to the couple's own page and pledge money towards the part of the wedding they would like to help pay for - from flowers to the honeymoon.
Liz Quant, creator of youbuymywedding.com, said: "Weddings cost an enormous amount of money and it can take some of the fun out of things if you're forced to borrow huge amounts.
This idea also does away with the frustration of unwanted or duplicate gifts. Just how many toasters does a newly-married couple need?"
